Selection of Country Houses

A large house in the English countryside, typically the seat of a wealthy or aristocratic family was usually called a Country House.

Such houses were often owned by individuals who also owned a town house. This allowed them to spend time in the country and in the city—hence, for these people, the term distinguished between town and country. Timber Windows and timber doors were made to complement the detail and the look of these country mansions – from hand-made timber sash windows to hardwood, traditional casement windows – the detail was extremely important to the design of each country house.
